making space for the life you desire.

I’ve been ruminating on the idea of “making space.”

When I lead SoulFlow™ embodiment sessions, we spend forty-ish minutes focusing on releasing the energy that we don’t want and calling in the energy, opportunities, and feelings that we do want.

In other words, we focus on making space in the body to receive everything we desire by getting rid of everything that isn’t serving us.

“Out with the old and in with the new.”

This is mirrored in the physical world—if your closet is literally full of clothes and shoes and jackets, you have to physically make space in order to add in new pieces.

But society doesn’t tell us that the same is true for our energetic field—for our emotional and mental capacities.

If your mental space is overloaded with worry, with obsessive thoughts, with anxiety, you don’t have room for wonder, creativity.

If your emotional capacity is overloaded with shame, guilt, anger, you don’t have room for abundance, joy.

it needs to be an intentional practice to make space and to clear up the gunk that is in the way of your desires.

This theme has been all around me recently.

In 2024, I worked through something (in therapy, in journaling, in somatic sessions) that had been taking up an immense amount of space in my emotional and mental capacity for the past decade.

Since doing so, I’ve had some of the most creative ideas, the most exciting inspiration, and the biggest shifts in my relationships (with myself and others) than I’ve had in YEARS.

In fact, I will boldly say that releasing that has been the catalyst for all of the growth and expansion I had in 2024. (Some reflections on my growth here.)

And, at the start of this year, I had an Akashic Records reading in which it became clear that in order to move forward, I have to explore the overflow of other people’s expectations and energies that I’ve absorbed in order to purposely move forward and step into my highest alignment.

I’ve come a long way, but there are still some things that I’m carrying. And if I’m worrying and hanging onto those, then they’re taking up space that could belong to something more supportive.

In other words, you can’t take oversized baggage as a carry-on to somewhere exciting. They won’t let you on the plane. You either need to downsize the baggage, or offload it entirely.

I invite you to ask yourself this question:

What am I willing to let go of to make room for something better?

You can start small. One thing that I find supportive is remembering that, “Where attention goes, energy flows.”

My word for 2025 is PRESENCE.

Being present with my thoughts, being present when I’m connecting with others, being present with my body, being present with my time, and being intentional with how my presence is either adding or detracting from a community.

Presence is the opposite of disassociating, which is a state I was in for a long time.

presence forces you to be aware of your attention and where it’s going.

By focusing on presence (i.e. my attention), my energy will flow there, too.

Which means I’ll be more alive in my life. I’ll be more alive in my body. And I’ll be more able to tune into where I’m ruminating on things that aren’t serving me.

I’m not saying it’s easy.

In fact, it’s really freaking hard.

But with most things, awareness is the first step. Action closely follows awareness. I’d encourage you to seek out different modalities that feel right to you if you’re in the marketing for making space—talk therapy, EMDR, Internal Family Systems therapy, breathwork, reiki, somatic embodiment, journaling, etc.

Abundance and joy and gratitude and wealth and confidence and empowerment and love live on the other side.

Make space. You owe it to yourself.

xx

Court.
